Over Labor Day weekend, Jillian Annalise Acosta was baptized at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. It was such a special occasion and our entire family came out to share this joyous occasion with us.
It is tradition for the baby's Godparents to get her ready for her baptism. Julian and I asked my older brother, Michael, and his fiance Jen to be Jillian's Godparents.
It is so special to us to have them as the baby's Godparents as we are Godparents to their little girl, too!
After a full mass, Jillian was baptized by Deacon Fernandez.
Next, Jillian was cleansed with holy water, which serves to free one of sin and as a gateway to life with the Holy Spirit.
The Deacon really wanted to cleanse her because he accidentally poured water all over her face, too. At first, she gasped, but she immediately smiled and the show went on.
After it was over, we took some photos. Here is Jillian with her parents and Godparents.
And Jilly with her "Nina" Jenny, "Nino" Mikey, and Deacon Fernandez.
And here is Jillian with all her loving family who came out to watch her get baptized as she received the first sacrament in our Catholic faith. We all love you, Jillian, and were happy to welcome you officially into our big, crazy Catholic family!
