Silly Jilly: Underage Drinking is a No-No!

Seems like our little crawler is getting around.  The other day, I put her down in our dining room and she crawled her way over to our buffet.  Our buffet has space to store bottles of wine.

Well, I'm in the kitchen and I hear a rustling in the buffet.  I turn the corner to see Jillian pulling one of the bottles of wine out of the buffet...

Silly Jilly: Rock and Roll

Jilly loves Rock and Roll...but I don't mean "The Rolling Stones" or "The Beatles."  She went from showing early signs of being a mobile baby...
ROCK...

...To being a lil' early crawler, seemingly overnight.  Guess it's time for her to

...ROLL!

Our First Party at Our New House!

Also over Labor Day weekend, we had much to celebrate so we had our first party at our new house.  It was a Housewarming/Baptism/Birthday/Engagement extravaganza complete with our entire family and all our friends, too!

We had great food, almost entirely prepared by my Mom.  And everyone pitched in to help decorate and clean up.  Thank goodness because I really could have not had a party this big without the love and support from our family.  I must say, we really do know how to have a good party!

Jilly and I took a quick photo break in the middle of our party.

As I said, we had much to celebrate.  So we had a cookie cake for Mike and Jen.  But the party was just too much for Lauren because she passed out halfway through the festivities!

But in no time, she was awake and playing with her cousin and new friend, Jackson!  I think these kids are pretty darn cute!

Next we had cake for Jillian's baptism and birthday cakes for all the August/September birthdays!
Andrea Sofia - August 15, Julian - August 21, Amber - August 31, Mando - September 3

We also had cookies for guests to take home as a thank you for attending Jilly's baptism.  They were cute cookies that my mom had made in El Paso.

The entire party was perfect! When the sun was up, we had the tables set up inside and at one point, we had a packed house!  Once the sun set, all the men moved outside to enjoy the weather and smoke their cigars and enjoy their spirits.

The party lasted until 2 in the morning, and I am so glad that we took the next day off of work!  We had a great time and can't wait to do this again sometime!

Jillian's Baptism

Over Labor Day weekend, Jillian Annalise Acosta was baptized at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.  It was such a special occasion and our entire family came out to share this joyous occasion with us.
It is tradition for the baby's Godparents to get her ready for her baptism.  Julian and I asked my older brother, Michael, and his fiance Jen to be Jillian's Godparents.

It is so special to us to have them as the baby's Godparents as we are Godparents to their little girl, too!

After a full mass, Jillian was baptized by Deacon Fernandez.

Next, Jillian was cleansed with holy water, which serves to free one of sin and as a gateway to life with the Holy Spirit.

The Deacon really wanted to cleanse her because he accidentally poured water all over her face, too.  At first, she gasped, but she immediately smiled and the show went on.

After it was over, we took some photos.  Here is Jillian with her parents and Godparents.

And Jilly with her "Nina" Jenny, "Nino" Mikey, and Deacon Fernandez.

And here is Jillian with all her loving family who came out to watch her get baptized as she received the first sacrament in our Catholic faith.  We all love you, Jillian, and were happy to welcome you officially into our big, crazy Catholic family!

Extended Family Photos!

When all of our family was in town last weekend, we took extended family photos and I think they turned out so well.  We used a great local Bryan/College Station photographer named Shannon Morton and she did such a great job capturing our family.  Here are just a few of my favorits shots!

Look at these 2 cutie cousins!  I could just eat them up, they are so precious!

And next are a few shots of our whole family!  I cannot tell you how great it was to have all these people that we care about so dearly in one place all at the same time!

These 2 are clearly the center of our family and they stole the show in this shot!

Love this, especially the mingling of the family members and our two pint-size loves!

I asked the photographer to do a couple special shots of my brother, Mike, and his new fiance Jen! They got engaged this weekend...finally!

And here are a couple more shots of different family combinations!
I can't believe that we both have babies!

My mom with her kids and granddaughters!  Her whole world is in this picture!

And here are Grandma and Grandpa Fonseca with their kids and grandkids.  I tried to get my dad to carry Amanda in this picture, but they both said no...JK!

And here is an amazing shot of the Acosta clan!

Jillian, Lauren, and their grandparents

The babies and their aunts and uncles

We had such a great time taking these pictures.  Thanks a million, Shannon, for capturing these special moments with our family!

Silly Jilly: My Niece Ate My Homework

Ever heard the saying "my dog ate my homework"?  How about the saying "my niece ate my homework"?!  Well, that's exactly what Jilly did to her Auntie Michelle...
This past weekend, all of our family came in town, but I will blog more about that later.  As soon as they got here, my youngest sister Michelle pulled out her homework to get it taken care of so she could enjoy the rest of the weekend.  (What a good little student she is...a girl after my own heart!)

As soon as she set her paper down, Jilly quickly grabbed it, as she is still in her "grab-anything-you-can-get-your-hands-on-and-stick-it-in-your-mouth" phase. And she bit off the top corner of the paper!

Guess Auntie Shell will have to explain that one to her teacher.

Silly Jilly, you bring new meaning to the phrase "My Dog Niece Ate My Homework!"

Happy 7 Months, Jillian!

Guess who's 7 months old today?!?!

Wait a minute...does that actually say 7 months??!!

Yes it does!  Our Jillian is 7 months today!  She is changing so much everyday as she gets more and more animated.  She is getting better at expressing herself, other than just smiles or cries.  Now she acts surprised, elated, miserable, or calm, depending on the day.  And we have seen all those emotions on her this past month as she got her first ear infection and as she continues to explore our new house.

Jillian has also started to push up on all fours and rock back and forth (video to come soon).  She is showing early signs of crawling and so we have started to baby proof our house.  And it will only be a matter of time until she is a lil' mobile baby...guess we'll be chasing her around soon!

Jilly also is expanding her horizons with all the different foods we are introducing to her.  Thus far, some of her favorites are bananas, squash, and peaches.  And her not-so-favorites include sweet potato and pears.

She is getting so much bigger by the say, too.  We have moved Jilly into size 3 diapers and she is fitting snuggly in her 6 month clothes.  I guess it's a good thing that her closet is full of lots of dresses and outfits so that we can keep this growing baby looking so cute and stylish!

We love our baby girl and as much as we love her new development, there is a small part of us that wants to keep her this little forever.  But since we can't do that, we will just sit back and love on her as she continues to grow and change.  We love you, Jilly Bear!
