Putting Together Jillian's Nursery

One of the greatest things we have gotten to do before Jillian comes is preparing her nursery.  We went to countless websites and stores to pick the right crib in the perfect color, find the bedding that we absolutely loved, and choose all the accent pieces that would make her room complete.  It is no wonder that women are pregnant for 9 full months, because with a Mommy as picky as me and a Daddy as opinionated as Julian, it took us awhile to make our selections and get it all ordered.  But alas, in early December, Jilly's furniture came in and we began to set up her nursery.
This is the mess that we started with, because her room was originally a guest bedroom, but Julian moved the guest bed into his Man Cave.  So when her furniture came in big boxes, and all the leftover odds and ends were still in there, this room was a mess!!!
We got all the furniture out of the boxes and I absolutely LOVE the espresso colored wood! I think it is so beautiful!  Unfortunately, all the crib pieces had these obnoxious stickers that took us for-e-ver to get off!  You can see the displeasure on Julian's face...

But finally, after the stickers came off, and after constructing all the pieces (let's be honest, Julian did all that, I just supervised), we finally put all the furniture up in place.  Whew, that was a long night!  It was so much fun and Julian and I had a moment in there, that night, where we looked down at my belly and at the beginnings of her nursery and realized that we did all this...created all this...and best of all, we did it TOGETHER!

Fast forward to the beginning of January, when the bedding that we picked from Pottery Barn came in!  Julian and I spent so much time looking at different bedding options, because it was really important to us to pick colors for her room that are subdued and not "throwing up pink."  We finally chose this set because it had a little pink, but also included blue, green, and yes, even orange.  Grandma Julie wanted to help get Jilly her bedding and we were so excited to get this, mainly because it had her little name embroidered on it!

And now there's no turning back...her name is embroidered on here and so it's official!

There were only a few more things that we needed in order to make her nursery complete.  In mid-January, the glider we ordered from Babies R Us finally came in (after a long ordeal, we finally got the right one)!  Grandpa and Grandma Fonseca got us her glider and it matches the other furniture perfectly.  Julian got right to work on constructing it...

...And then he took a break!

Now, to put some of the finishing touches on her nursery!  We had seen this perfect print to add to her nursery with all the right colors and so we mounted it on the wall over her changing table.  And I am absolutely in love with all little cupcakes, so when I had a chance to go to U-Paint-It with some friends, we picked these perfect little cupcakes to paint.  I absolutely love them and I can see her playing with them for years to come.  And one of the last pieces we added was the little giraffe in the basket that Julian saw and decided that he loved and wanted his little girl to have!

But the giraffe wasn't the first thing that Julian picked for his little girl.  The FAO monkey in the glider was another of Julian's impulse buys and we will use that monkey as the marker in all her month pictures to measure how big she is getting.  And last, but certainly not least, are the adorable letters that my friend, Katy, made for Jilly!  They are perfect and the great final touch for her nursery!

So there you have it!  Jillian Annalise's nursery is complete!  Can you tell from the huge smiles on our faces that we are ready for the next part of the ride in our Roll-Acosta life??!!  Surely, Jilly will be the most thrilling part to date and parenthood will be the ride of a lifetime!
